diurnal

The transition from day to night, and back again, is as much a part of one's self as some of the aspects more commonly taken to be intrinsic. And not only the transition, but also the sense of what belongs to night and what lives in the day, is impressed deeply. Just think of the richness, the cultural and personal and all-round elegant feeling of - evening.

And then, just now, to see that word typed out - evening - and to feel the interplay between the patent noun and the verb latent: well, the beauty of it. A poem of one word.
