glories

Fargo's ending, actually better than many of Shakespeare's denouments: Marge Gunderson looks back at the killer she's captured, through the rear view mirror of her sherriff's car.  "So that was Mrs. Lundegaard on the floor in there. And I guess that was your accomplice in the wood chipper. And those three people in Brainerd. And for what? For a little bit of money. There's more to life than a little money, you know. Don't you know that? And here ya are, and it's a beautiful day. Well, I just don't understand it."  She turns the keys in her car's ignition, shakes her head softly, and drives towards town, joined eventually and silently by cars called in for reinforcement, their red squad lights turning against the white winter, in slow procession.
