If I could reintroduce one happy fiction to American thought, it would be a sort of futurism or utopianism. We did better with those dreams than we are doing without them.
I had popular American thought in mind. Not Thomas More's Utopia but Roddenberry and NASA, the Roosevelts and the National Parks, Disney and his Carousel of Progress at the 1964 New York World's Fair.
