National anthems, both lyrics and tunes, tend to fail unless placed somewhere outside the main anthemic registers. The French and American anthems are good examples of eccentric successes. The Australian anthem is more unusual - it registers as a full throated anthem, right down the line...and succeeds:
Australians all let us rejoice,
For we are young and free;
We've golden soil and wealth for toil...
Beautiful lines.
